As an international region, Greater Victoria has long benefitted from a steady flow of tourists, business travellers and goods across the Canada-U.S. border. Then the pandemic put a stop to much of that flow. Now, as vaccines roll out, and the impact of border restrictions on our economies deepens, there are increased calls to re-open the border.
But when and how can we do this — safely and securely? What we can expect in 2021 for our border — and how do we harness science and technology to mitigate the risk of future closures?
South Island Prosperity Partnership Director of Engagement Kerry Slavens explores these questions with Dr. Laurie Trautman, Director, Border Policy Research Institute, Western Washington University and Matt Morrison, CEO, Pacific NorthWest Economic Development Region.
