Rising Economy Taskforce

On April 16, 2020, SIPP announced the creation of a new multi-stakeholder taskforce to coordinate a strong response to the urgent economic crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the most comprehensive non-government COVID- related initiative in the Greater Victoria region, and will undertake a thorough process of crafting the best strategy to move the region into our new economy. A cohort of sector and business specific committees will work with the Taskforce to gather the empirical information needed to task the region into the next economy.

The Rising Economy Taskforce will focus on relief and recovery efforts, however, this is also an opportunity to explore the resiliency that the region needs in order to withstand future shocks. As an alliance of over 60 public and private partners across Greater Victoria, SIPP views this multi-stakeholder approach as essential to developing a coordinated response and strategy.

Monitoring Economic Recovery

The taskforce will communicate with the public and its key stakeholders through an economic recovery dashboard that tracks key economic indicators on a month over month basis. This website will also host press releases, survey links and other key information about progress and ways to get involved. Stay tuned for the dashboard launch on May 21, or register for the webinar launch below.
